Memoir, 1898-1904.

Memoir of his service as an Apprentice, 1st class in the U.S. Navy, 1898-1904, including training at the U.S. Naval Training Station, Newport, RI, aboard the USS Constellation and a cruise in USS Essex to Europe, assigned to USS Wabash and then in USS Wisconsin which cruised to South America and the Far East with description of crossing the line ceremony, ports visited, transfer to USS Solace for discharge in San Francisco and return home. Includes photographs and descriptions of ships he served in and of his ship models.

Martin enlisted in the Navy in Cleveland, Ohio in 1898 at age 15 and was discharged in 1904. He was married in 1905 and worked for the National Cash Register Company in Dayton, Ohio.
